Deuxième conférence : c’est un vrai marathon !
Cette fois-ci, il s’agissait de la 4ème conférence de l’International Society for the Study of Religion, Nature and Culture.
Second conference : a real marathon !
This time it was the 4th conference of the International Society for the Study of Religion, Nature and Culture.
La conférence a eu lieu a Perth, à l’University of Western Australia. Elle était beaucoup plus modeste que la précédente mais j’ai eu une intervention de 30 minutes ! J’y ai également rencontré Bob Reece, un historien qui a beaucoup travaillé sur les relations entre colons et Aborigènes.
The conference was in Perth, at the University of Western Australia. It was smaller then the preceding one but I had a 30 minute presentation ! And I met Bob Reece, a key historian in Aboriginal history.
Bob Reece vient d’écrire le texte d’un opéra dont Anne Boyd, grande compositrice australienne, se charge de la partie musicale. L’opéra intitulé Kabbarli at Ooldea porte sur la vie de Daisy Bates (1859-1951), journaliste et anthropologue ambiguë, qui a campé pendant 16 ans à Ooldea, au bord de la Nullarbor Plain, au sud du continent, pour étudier les Aborigènes. Plusieurs artistes aborigènes participent au projet.
Bob Reece has written the text of an opera that Anne Boyd has composed. The opera called Kabbarly at Ooldea is based on the 16 years that Daisy Bates spent in her tent at Ooldea, along the Nullarbor Plain. Several Aboriginal artists participates in the project.
Lors de la conférence nous avons assisté à la première représentation publique d’une partie de l’opéra. C’était très beau et émouvant.
During the conference, we attended the first public performance of an extract of the opera. This was really moving and beautiful.
